Most electric tools are operated by hand, so in addition to requiring high performance, they are also required to be lightweight, comfortable to operate, and not harmful to operators and the environment. Miniaturized and cordless electric tools can better meet the above requirements in use. Cordless electric tools were introduced in the 1960s, but due to weak power and endurance, as well as high purchase costs, early electric tools in the market were mainly AC electric power products.

Cordless electric tools were introduced in the 1960s, but due to weak power and endurance, as well as high purchase costs, early electric tools in the market were mainly AC electric power products.
In recent years, with the continuous development of lithium battery technology, the market for cordless electric tools has grown rapidly. In 2019, the global market size of cordless electric tools was 16.851 billion US dollars, with an annual compound growth rate of over 6%, accounting for more than half of the global market size of electric tools. In the future, the global market share of cordless electric tools is expected to further increase. At present, the proportion of cordless electric tools in the domestic market is still at a low level, and there is huge development space in the future.
The commonly used rechargeable batteries nowadays include lead-acid batteries, nickel hydrogen/nickel cadmium batteries, and rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. Lead acid batteries have gradually withdrawn from the portable power source market due to a series of issues such as volume, lifespan, safety, and energy density. Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries are one of the future development directions for large capacity power sources.
Lithium ion battery is a secondary battery with electrodes mainly made of lithium metal or lithium alloy, and electrolyte as non-aqueous electrolyte solution. It mainly relies on the movement of lithium ions (Li+) between the positive and negative electrodes to complete the charging and discharging process. When charging, lithium ions are detached from the positive electrode and embedded into the negative electrode through the electrolyte, leaving the negative electrode in a lithium rich state; When discharging, the opposite is true. Lithium batteries have advantages such as large battery capacity, lightweight, long lifespan, and short charging time, and are gradually replacing nickel cadmium batteries, further promoting the miniaturization and cordless development of electric tools. Lithium batteries in 2020
The penetration rate of similar electric tools in cordless electric tools has reached 90%, gradually occupying a dominant position. The global shipment volume of lithium batteries for electric tools in 2021 was 22GWh, and it is expected that the shipment scale will increase to 60GWh in 2026, showing a rapid growth. In the future, China's supply of lithium-ion electronic batteries in the electric tool market is expected to further increase.
